PM Shehbaz Sharif to Visit Doha for High-Level Talks with Qatari Leadership

PM Shehbaz Begins Two-Day Official Visit to Qatar

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to depart for a two-day official visit to Doha, aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, the visit is being undertaken at the invitation of Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.

Bilateral Talks to Cover Trade, Energy and Investment

During the visit, PM Shehbaz will hold a high-level bilateral meeting with Sheikh Tamim. Discussions are expected to cover the full spectrum of Pakistan-Qatar relations, including:

  • Political cooperation
  • Economic collaboration
  • Energy partnerships
  • Infrastructure development
  • Manpower export opportunities
  • People-to-people exchanges

Both sides are also likely to explore new avenues of cooperation, particularly in trade expansion, foreign direct investment, and workforce employment opportunities for Pakistani nationals in Qatar.

Focus on Regional and Global Developments

The leadership of both countries will exchange views on key regional and international developments. The talks are expected to emphasize joint efforts for peace, stability, and economic prosperity in the Middle East and South Asia.

Officials noted that Pakistan and Qatar share a longstanding partnership built on mutual trust, shared values, and close coordination at regional and global forums.

Delegation Accompanying the Prime Minister

The prime minister will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other federal ministers and senior government officials.

Strengthening Pakistan-Qatar Diplomatic Relations

Pakistan and Qatar maintain strong diplomatic and economic ties, supported by cultural affinity and shared religious values. Qatar remains one of the key destinations for Pakistani expatriates and plays an important role in energy cooperation.

Notably, PM Shehbaz visited Doha twice in September 2025 — once to express solidarity following regional tensions and again to attend a joint summit of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.

During those visits, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for Qatar and reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Global Implications

The visit is being closely watched in Pakistan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as stronger Pakistan-Qatar relations could influence regional economic partnerships and energy markets.

Zavia Pakistan will continue to provide updates on the outcomes of the high-level meetings in Doha.
